Superfoods That Relieve Heartburn

Products

Many people suffer from heartburn and for some it can be very painful and can really affect their life adversely. What happens when you have heartburn is that the muscles at the end of your esophagus aren’t doing their job properly in the stomach acid is allowed back up into your esophagus. This can be a result of the foods that you’re eating and while many people turn to prescription drugs to relieve heartburn, most can avoid it by changing what the eat.

Some things to avoid eating include spicy foods such as raw onions, chili powder, black pepper as well a citrus foods, oranges, grapefruit and even tomatoes and also fried foods or fatty foods. Also you should avoid caffeine and alcohol.

To minimize the effects of acid reflux and improve your digestion overall you should get plenty of fiber in your diet from a variety of vegetables and whole grains. Also be sure to drink enough fluids and try to use low-fat methods in your cooking preparation.

Drinking chamomile tea after you eat and before bed time can have a calming effect on the stomach and may help relieve symptoms of heartburn.

Eating smaller meals but perhaps more during the day and being sure do enjoy them in a relaxed manner - not wolfing them down while standing at the sink in between running here and there - can help too. Also if your pants are too tight around the waist this can have adverse effects on your digestion and lead to heartburn. It’s best not to lie down right after eating.
