A lot of foods available on the market today are high in cholesterol (way too high). It is very alarming to see just how much of it you can get from a burger or just those fries you have just devoured. If you do not think you have high cholesterol levels have yourself checked and be astounded about how much fat you may accumulated in your body. Don’t think that just because you are skinny you have fewer chances to have high levels. Anybody no matter their body type have chances on having high bad cholesterol.
Have you been eating this lately?
- French fries, onion rings and calamari
- Cheese burgers
- Pizza
- Fried foods (like tempura, crispy bacon and that fried chicken you just enjoyed for dinner)
- Chocolates
- Eggs
- Dairy products (that full cream milk you just gulped on is not that good for you)
- Organ meats (that includes liver)
- Hotdogs
- Sausages
- Bologna
- Salami
- Goose and duck meat
- Ice cream
- Butter
- Salads with lots of mayonnaise (mayo is your culprit)
- Junk food (like the chips you just nibbled on)
Oh so you have…why don’t you steer clear from them then! Have yourself checked for cholesterol levels if these has been you daily consumption. You may have more risks and chances in getting that heart attack or other diseases near or common to it.
Cooking and preparing your own meals will help you control your cholesterol intake. Use a non-stick pan so you don’t have to put that much oil (actually you don’t have to put any if you buy a good non-stick pan). And try buying meat with less of those white stuff (they are called fats f.y.i.); seeing more red in the meats means it is leaner (this also means it is way better for you).
If you really have to eat out then go thru the menu first. Choose wisely and remember which ones have very high fat content.
Of course you still have to eat something even if the list above is basically your meal plan for the rest of your life and should now be omitted you have nothing to worry about because you have a wider selection.
Why don’t you try…
- Whole wheat bread rather than white
- Poached or hard boiled eggs rather than fried
- Baked potatoes rather than French fries
- Graham crackers rather that chips
- Skim milk or soymilk rather than full cream milk
- Fat free pastries rather than chocolate chip cookies
- Lots of water instead of those carbonated and alcoholic beverages you just drank
- Skinless chicken rather than the deep fried crispy chicken
- Canadian bacon rather than those honey-cured ones (leaner is better)
- Tofu meat or veggie meat instead of pork or beef
- Real Tomato based sauces for pasta instead of creamy sauces like carbonara
- Broiling or grilling food instead of frying
- Salted popcorn instead of those loaded with cheese or butter
There are lots of alternatives to all your food cravings. Learn more about them by researching or contacting a good dietician. There are also popular diets around that you can get ideas from. This will aid you in making better choices the next time you got to the grocery or inside a restaurant.
Remember all things have limitations. Too much of something is bad. If you can’t do away with chocolates or those sweet yummy stuff then put a limitation to it. It is normal for people to crave for certain palatable dishes or sweets. You just need to know when to stop. Remove all those junk in your office table drawer. Remove all food stuff that entices you to eat more and eat unhealthy. Give yourself a break! Doesn’t your jaw get tired from munching every now and then? Weren’t you just planning to shed a few pounds? Stop yourself then. Regulation is the key.
Being healthy is the key for a better life. Take care of your only body is the best gift you can give yourself. Don’t worry your investment will triple its rewards. Live longer, eat healthy. You owe it to yourself.
