Can Eating Freeze Dried Strawberries Decrease Your Chance Of Cancer?

The other day, my husband was watching the news and there was a segment on freeze dried strawberries and how they could have the potential to prevent esophageal cancer. A study done by Tong Chen, MD, PhD from Th Ohio State University did a small study and found that eating strawberries for 6 months could decrease the severity of pre cancerous lesions in people with risk of esophageal cancer.

In the study, she used freeze dried strawberries because when they are freeze dried, it concentrates their potency 10 times. During the study she also found that eating the strawberries may reduce some molecular events related to cancer so it’s possible that they could have preventative properties for other types of cancer as well.

freeze dried strawberriesIn the study, patients ate 60 grams of strawberries in freeze dried form every day. Dr. Chen believes that fresh strawberries would have the same positive effects, but the freeze dried version is more concentrated so you are getting more vitamins, minerals and antioxidents for the same amount of food.
We were intrigued and rushed over to our computer to buy some. Turns out, they weren’t that easy to find and most places were sold out!

We ended up getting a huge box of them, but later on I discovered that you can Get Organic Freeze Dried Strawberries In Convenient Packs At Amazon!

The strawberries are really tasty – sweet and tart and they are crunchy! Since there is no moisture in them at all, they kind of melt in your mouth. The taste and texture almost reminds me of a sweet tart but not as thick or hard. They really do make a perfect snack and since they are freeze dried you can store them in Tupperware containers for months. The only thing is that they can produce a lot of red powder which can get on your hands and clothes (kind of like when you eat Cheetos – LOL).
This is one food that you should add to your daily diet as a snack, even though testing on the anti cancer effects of freeze dried strawberries is in the early stages, there is no doubt that they are good for you and not harmful in any way. Plus they are super low in calories and loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants so instead of reaching for a bag of chips, keep some of these handy and help your body be healthy.
